WELCOME -- This is a blog to discuss varying points of view on topics I pick. It can be political, financial, religious and anything else that could be discussed in your living room, around your kitchen table or wherever it is that you have your morning coffee (or juice if that's your preference.) I can't wait to hear what you have to say!

Parents, Parents, Parents
I can't believe it! I just saw a story about a couple, and they can't be the only ones because a company could not exist for just one family, who have hired a sleep consultant fortheir four month old baby...come on, it's a baby. You know what's wrong? We have waaaaay too much money today. Instead of learning how to be parents the way parents have learned to be parents for thousands of years, we can now afford to pay someone to come in, observe us and set our schedules for the baby. There would be some who will say, it's progress, we are moving forward. Look around, I don't think we are doing a lot better, especially in the parenting area than our parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. I have two grandchildren my self an am sooooo thankful that their parents understand that schedules and child care is THIER responsibility, not some paid outsider. I am sure many may disagree, LET"S TALK!

WHY DO THEY HAVE TO TAKE THE KIDS?
The story below appeared as breaking news a few minutes ago. I just do not understand why they have to take the kids. When things get so bad, and I do understand that one can lose hope, but why take the kids? In this story, why not light the match while the kids were with the Social worker? I am not in any way saying that if he had done that it would have been ok because I am saddened when anyone lose hope to the point of taking their own life. Someone said the other day to me, "why do they have to take innocent lives?" The case last month where the man went in to a cafe, shot innocent people, then went outside and shot himself. When it gets that bad just do it if that's your decision, don't take others with you. The stories are becoming more and more frequent. Let's Talk.
GRAHAM, Wash. -- An explosion at the home of Josh Powell, the husband of a missing Utah woman, killed him and their two young sons shortly after the boys were dropped off by a social worker, officials said Sunday. An official said the blast appeared to be intentional.
Powell let the boys in the house, then blocked the social worker from entering, said Graham Fire and Rescue Chief Gary Franz.
The social worker called her supervisors to report that she could smell gas, and the home exploded.

CHINESE GOATEE
What the heck is up with this funny looking goatee I am seeing these days. Hangs off the chin, pulled in a triangle and has a rubber band around it. One of the most ridiculous things I have seen in along time. What is this called, anyone know or does it even have a name. I just saw a guy , he must have been in his 50's with one. Does this mean you are real tough and I should be careful what I say, or is it a gang symbol? Maybe it's some sort of club initiation. Anyone with any idea, help me out.. Let's TALK

REPUBLICANS ARE A MESS !!!
Romney wins Florida, he and Gingrich are going back and forth. I think that Obama will serve another four years because the Republicans can not rally around one guy. I have said it before, the Republicans in DC are making themselves look like fools. They cannot get anything done and are not willing to work for the country, just their party! Add to that candidates that are so divisive that a majority refuses to vote for one. Anti Washington and true moralist dislike Gingrich. Evangelical Christians will NEVER support Romney because he's Mormon, no body is talking about Santorum this week and Ron Paul is just out there. If he is elected we will be in big trouble as he will isolate us as quickly as possible. Like him or not, Obama is secure. Republican party is sooooo screwed up it is pathetic. Is there anyone out there who thinks they could run this country, they can't even run their party.

OFF TO THE MOON !
Presidential hopeful , Newt Gingrich hopes to send people to the moon! In fact in this same news article he mentioned JFK who also campaigned on a growing space program. I think that moving forward with technology is a great thing but he also wants to be on Mars by 2020. He went on to say that "At one point early in my career I introduced the northwest ordinance for space and I said when we got -- I think the number is 13,000 -- when we have 13,000 Americans living on the moon they can petition to become a state," Gingrich said, telling the crowd this was the "weirdest" thing he has ever done. "And I will as president encourage the introduction of the northwest ordinance for space to put a marker down that we want Americans to think boldly about the future…"This sounds like a job creator to me but I just am not sure that our economy is in the same place it was in 1962. This speech was made in Florida where I am sure many in that area would love to see an increase in Space Technology, reality or just playing politics to the locals? Are you ready to move there, should be lot's of construction jobs..and who's going to get to go, will it only be the Floridians? What will those immigration laws look like? LET'S TALK

WHO CARES?
I am not a big fan of the media...I am sure they have their place but I 'm not exactly sure that it is used for the greater good. Even as I was about to write I am hearing in the background on the TV: "Seal to speak about how the kids are dealing with the split", WHO CARES? No one reported about the other thousands of divorces that took place this month. Families were broken, kids will grow up without fathers (help me remember, that's another whole topic in itself), others will grow up without mothers Divorce is not a good thing and not really a public interest story, I don't CARE WHO YOU ARE! Family matters do not need to be aired on the 6:00 news, but I guess they do it because we are infatuated with the lives of the rich and famous. LET'S TALK.

HOW MUCH GOVERNMENT DO YOU WANT?
Hello to all, I said it was going to be controversial so let's start right there. How much government do you want? How much control over individual lives should be held at the Federal level verses the State level. It seems that we need regulations on our banks so that they don't jeopardize our economy but I for one think they are doing everything they can to keep the banks in such a state of suspense that they CAN'T lend money because they don't know what new requirement will be added tomorrow. Capital punishment laws are left to the states, should abortion laws be left to the states too? I have another related question , but let's start here...that's what's on my mind, now LET"S TALK.
My Introduction
Hello to all and welcome to my latest blog. I am new to blogging but am loving it! I hope that everyone enjoys this blog as much as I imagine that you will. I look forward to hearing what others think and am always up for a good discussion. You may find that I take either side sometimes, just to stir the pot and keep things lively...but first let me tell you who I am and where I come from. This will give you an idea of where and why I draw my perspectives.
First of all, I am a Christian. I am thankful that God saved me from my sinful self and has promised me eternal life with Him in Heaven. It is because of this belief that will lead me to sometimes quote the Holy Bible as my reference for a particular point. If that offends you that is too bad, it does not offend me that you do not believe in God or that you believe in something else (but know that I am praying for you.) Feel free to use the Koran, the Torah, the Book of Joseph Smith, the Constitution Huckleberry Finn, Gone With the Wind or whatever you need to support your views.
I was raised in a good home by two loving parents and know that for that I am very fortunate. I married a wonderful woman and have two children and a grandson by my oldest. I lost her to cancer after 19 yrs of marriage so I do understand sickness, family stresses and grief. I married another wonderful woman and have three step-children. I also have a grandson from one of my beautiful step-daughters so I understand blended families. They live all across the US so I understand the challenges of visiting at holidays, missing birthdays, and just keeping in touch with loved ones you can't visit everyday.
I served my country for 20 years and am very proud to call myself an American. I never fought in a war but AM extremely proud and thankful to all veterans past and present who have fought for our freedom. I am just as proud of all those who served who did not fight but supported both stateside and overseas. I believe in our government (even though I am not so thrilled with our leaders at this time ) and our financial system (although I realize it is strained.)
I am 56 years old so have lived all the baby boomer experiences. Since retiring, I have worked for state government, corporate America and am now a small business owner. I have rented and am now buying a home, so I understand the advantages and drawbacks to both. I have lived in five states and two foreign countries so I have experienced different cultures. I have a bachelors degree that took 15 years to get through night school, two associate degrees through the Air Force and am currently enrolled in college trying for another degree to prepare me for the day when I can no longer do the job I do now. I understand that life is tough, times are bad ( I pay taxes and buy gas just like you ) but I also understand that I and I alone am responsible for my upkeep.
I hope that gives you some insight and I look forward to talking with you all..so Let's Talk!
